During this memorable reunion in India with my former medical school classmates and their wives, we were getting ready to take an excursion to the Sundarbans mangroves region. In this unique habitat, Royal Bengal Tigers live among the mangroves, which are also home to a special type of bee. The locals rely on the honey from the beehives there for their livelihoods and risk everything to go inside the mangroves to collect it. Sadly, even though the tigers rarely target humans for prey, it is a dangerous place and many people are killed when they venture into the area.
